I am a licensed clinical psychologist and provide counseling assessment services to school-aged children, adolescents, and adults. I am originally from the Northern Virginia area, and received my Bachelor of Science in psychology from The College of William and Mary. I then went on to obtain Master and Doctoral degrees at University of Missouri St. Louis with specializations in Behavioral Medicine and Child Psychology. I completed my post-doctoral training at University of Virginia, and have been practicing within Loudoun County ever since. I have provided psychological services in residential, inpatient, community, school and integrated primary care settings. I was excited to join Youth for Tomorrow in July 2018.
Clinically, I work with a wide variety of presenting issues and concerns. My specific areas of specialization include anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress, grief and loss, and behavioral medicine concerns (such as chronic pain, insomnia, and behavioral adjustment to chronic/major medical conditions). I have additional specialization and certification in working with children and adolescents with sexual reactivity and/or sexually abusive behaviors. In counseling, I utilize an integrative cognitive-behavioral approach that incorporates acceptance, mindfulness, and values work. I am passionate about working collaboratively with individuals and families to apply evidence based treatment concepts within the context of uniquely personal patient needs and goals.

I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from George Mason University and my Master Degree in Clinical Social Work from University of Maryland at Baltimore. Clinically, I incorporate concepts of cognitive behavioral (CBT) and mode deactivation therapies (MDT) , with some elements of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). My overall approach is geared towards helping the individual identify, connect and bring about meaningful change, while also learning how to accept the pain that life unavoidably brings during different seasons of our lives.

Hello there! My name is Brittany Jessurun, MSW, SISW. I possess a Master's degree in Social Work focusing on Behavioral Health from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work as well from Shepherd University. I am currently under supervision to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the state of Virginia. I offer therapy to children, teens, and adults with a passion for children and adolescence. I also support parents and children with behavioral difficulties and parenting strategies. I believe that everyone deserves to experience balance and peace in life. We cannot turn our minds "off" so when we have a mental health issue or a relationship issue, the impact is huge and haunting. I believe therapy offers freedom from this experience. I provide clients with solution focused and integrative therapy techniques to not just resolve issues in life, but improve life overall.
I offer a warm approach that is backed by research. I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered and Strength-Based approaches. I am creative and enjoy bringing that to sessions with different expressive art, play, and mindfulness activities to further engage and enhance the therapeutic process. It's important to me to offer clients the space and support to discover valuable insights into their mind, body, and how their brain is working. Within this discovery we are able to re-program old patterns as well as break through symptoms of mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
I have worked in a variety of different settings while working in the Social Work field to include Applied Behavioral Analysis working with at risk youth and their families, home visitations supporting parents in their children's development, non-profit work providing free educational resources to the community, psychotherapy services in private practice and in community mental health working with adults and adolescence with depression, anxiety, and other life challenges.
