Hi! My name is Laurel Biever. I have been a licensed counselor in Ohio since 1999, after receiving my Masters in Education in 1996 from the University of Dayton in Ohio. I was raised in Columbus, Ohio—Go Bucks—but went to George Mason University for my undergraduate work in Psychology and shortly thereafter moved back to Columbus to work and get my Masters in counseling. I have worked with adults and adolescents in my career, starting with providing care for individuals in treatment for chronic pain at the Ohio State Chronic Pain Clinic. I attended the Gestalt Institute of Central Ohio for 7 years, and worked in a Gestalt private practice seeing adults for individual counseling as well as parent training. I then began working at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the behavioral health program in Columbus were I ultimately was a pioneer team member in the Center for Suicide Prevention and Research program, educating the community about suicide prevention and collaborating with schools to implement and establish suicide prevention programs for youth.
I use a combination of approaches when working with clients and focus on a Person-Centered approach. I have extensive training in working with clients that struggle with suicidality. I have an eclectic style centered on making a connection with the client finding what works best for each. I use mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT methods, motivational interviewing and gestalt techniques
Virginia called to me again where I could not only be part of an amazing organization known as Youth for Tomorrow and work with an outstanding team of professionals to provide mental health care, but also be close with my family, who have all one by one moved to the Northern Virginia area over the years. Spending time with my family is what fills me. We love to cook together, eat together, spend time in nature and just hang out together.

Hi, my name is Lydia Kelley! I am a Supervisee in Social Work, working to obtain my license in clinical social work (LCSW). I obtained my master’s in social work from the Catholic University of America in 2025 and my Bachelor of Arts in Integrative studies, with a concentration in Education and minored in Human Development and Family Science from George Mason University in 2022.
When I began my career in 2022, I worked for Fairfax County Public School with special education. This drove my passion for working in the field of mental health, and caused me to become a Registered Behavior Technician, where I was an ABA therapist. While working as an ABA therapist, I worked with individuals, ages 2-8, who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and ADHD. When I went back to school to pursue my MSW, I worked with INOVA’s Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program. At INOVA, I led group therapy to adolescents, ages 12-18, to aid in the learning of appropriate coping skills to work through suicidality, self-injurious behavior, depression, anxiety, substance use, and trauma related disorders.
I am looking forward to working with you here, at Youth for Tomorrow. My goal is to create a warm environment, where this can be a safe space for you! I use a person-centered, strengths-based approach and incorporate some DBT skills, CBT, and motivational interviewing in my sessions. Something I want you to know is that your diagnosis does not define you and I hope while working with you, we can discover all the amazing qualities you do possess!
In my free time, I love to read, exercise, go on hikes, watch football (go 49ers!), and spend quality time with my friends and family. I also am always engaging in some form of self-care, watching my favorite show, and baking my favorite sweet treat!
