Bill Hanley
Athletic Director
Bill Hanley ("Coach") joined the YFT staff as Athletic Director in July 2004 after spending more than 30 years with Fairfax County Public Schools where he served as head coach for both football and softball and assistant coach for baseball, track and golf. In early 2007, Coach Hanley was inducted into the Fairfax High School Hall of Fame. Congratulations Coach!
At YFT, Coach Hanley has created an athletic program from scratch that includes boys and girls basketball, co-ed cross-country, boys' flag football, girls' softball and most recently a cheerleading team. Commenting on his career at YFT, he said: "I am fortunate to be able to help kids who have not had the opportunity to be shown love, cared for, or listened to in their short lifetime. This is the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life."
Coach Hanley encourages the boys and girls at YFT to get involved in athletics and takes the time to help each child get acclimated to the sport of their choice. Throughout the summer months, all students are encouraged to attend sports and leadership camps. Coach Hanley's advice to incoming residents is: "Get involved! Time flies when you're having fun!"
