YFT students attend a fully accredited year round secondary school. Our school offers instruction in all core courses, GED instruction, Advance Placement Biology and United States History along with electives in Art, Music, Education for Employment, Computer Technology, Life Skills, Comparative Religions, Animal Care, Culinary Arts, Landscape Design, Reading, and Service Learning. Students have the opportunity to earn their high school diploma at Youth For Tomorrow.
Other important facts about our academic program include:
• 12 Month - 230 day academic year
• Males and females attend class in separate wings of the school (with the exception of co-ed Health/PE class)
• 12:1 student/teacher ratio in all general education classes
• 8:1 student teacher ratio in all special education classes
• Middle School (Grades 7-8) and High School (Grades 9-12) students are taught in their own classrooms and are not co-mingled for instruction in their core subjects
• Special Education services are provided in both self-contained and inclusion classrooms. Currently, 45% of our students receive services through our special education department

• All students are expected to meet the Standards of Learning as established by the Commonwealth of Virginia. YFT is the first and only private school SOL testing site by the Department of Education as of the 2005-2006 school year

The YFT Scholarship Award
Graduates of Youth For Tomorrow's accredited secondary school may apply for an annual tuition scholarship (The Dr. Gary L. Jones Scholarship) up to $10,000 per year at the college/university or proprietary institution of the student's choice. Scholarships may also apply for an apprenticeship or a trade school.
YFT graduates are currently attending several colleges including Old Dominion, George Mason, VCU, Waynesboro (PA), Trinity University (Wash. DC), NOVA, Potomac State (WV), Charleston Southern and Virginia State.
