Request Admissions InformationAlmost 30 years ago, Joe Gibbs founded Youth For Tomorrow a home for at-risk teenagers. A devout Christian, Coach Gibbs has seen his dream of serving troubled teenagers in the Washington, DC

region become a center for wayward teenage boys and girls. The group home has evolved into a variety of residential and outpatient services including a residential private school and therapeutic counseling and treatment center which teaches Godly principles to the children we serve.

Residential

The living units are on a 215 acre campus just 40 west-southwest of Washington DC in Bristow VA. They are staffed by men and women who live and teach Christian values. These staff members  have re-directed the lives and  saved the souls of almost a thousand children for the past 27 years.

School

Our secondary school, State accredited and special education certified, is located on campus and offers a curriculum for grades 7-12. Our pupil – teacher ratio is 8-1. Our students take the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL’s), the SAT and the ACT. Our graduates have attended colleges throughout Virginia and elsewhere in the Nation. Graduates will receive a YFT and a Virginia Board of Education diploma and credits will transfer to most public and private high schools in the U.S.

Therapeutic Center

Residents benefit from the full range of therapeutic services which address behavioral health issues such as: depression, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, OCD and related mental health issues. Residents participate in individual, group and/or family therapy as necessary with a licensed or licensed eligible staff member.  Assessments are provided for specialized group counseling such as Anger Management, Chemical Education, Substance Abuse Education and Prevention, Overcomers Group, Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous, Sexual Abuse and Trauma, and Grief & Loss.

Christian Growth and Development

Permeating all facets of the Youth For Tomorrow program is our spiritual commitment. While our students come to us representing many denominations, we daily offer to each student spiritual activities within our residences,  therapy sessions and school ( e.g. Bible study, individual and group prayer, on-campus chapel and Sunday church service, youth group, off-campus community service projects and a study of comparative religions). We expect all of our staff members to set a Christian example on a daily basis.

YFT’s Foundational Scriptures and Motto:
“Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it”.
"Believe His Word and Trust His Grace"
(Psalm 127:1a - John 17:17 and 2 Corinthians 12:9)

PROGRAM FOR 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR:

Students between the ages of 12-18 may enroll in the Youth For Tomorrow Christian Boarding School and Therapeutic Center. Enrollment may occur at any time during the school year with the length of participation in the program dependent upon the needs of the student and the desire of the student’s family.

Student residence on the YFT campus

Our male residents reside in the Redskins Courage House directly across the driveway from our school. Enrollment is limited to 15 boys – no more than three boys per room. The girls reside in the Chelsea House located in Wiser Circle on campus – enrollment is limited to 15 girls. Each home has 24 hour supervision. Chelsea House is a single family constructed house with six bed rooms, a living room and kitchen. All breakfasts and all week-end meals are served in the home unless the students go on an evening out.  Lunches and dinners are served in the Joe Gibbs Academic and Physical Education Center.

There is a weekly evaluation of the student’s performance. These evaluations are the basis for a monthly report to the student’s family.  The evaluation consists of the staff assessments of the student’s personal behavior, conduct and achievements in each of our four program priorities noted earlier. Depending upon the length of stay in the program, the student may achieve promotions within the program as the student’s growth warrants.

All students must adhere to a dress code consisting of collared shirts and khaki pants or skirts for the girls. Additional policies relating to personal hygiene, behavior expectations in classrooms and living units are applicable to each student. You will find the full array of policies governing student behavior in  the 2016-2017 Student Handbook which we will email to you upon request.

The YFT Christian Boarding School and Therapeutic Center strongly encourages a minimum commitment of a 90 day placement in the program from the student’s family. This is to provide an opportunity for our professional staff to make behavioral assessments of the student’s issues, determine what is the most appropriate treatment for the child and to ascertain how well the child is responding to the chosen treatment.
